We absolute love hanging around a cottage - so begins our adventure
Lounging around in a hammock, watching the sunset, hiking a trail, swimming, skiing, firing up the barbeque, cozying up to the fire or doing some star gazing. These are all part of the glorious Canadian tradition of cottaging / heading to the cabin. The only downer is finding that perfect cottage, which involves visiting so many sites with bare bones info. We got sick of it so we decided to build a fun and informative site with easy to use maps that include points of interest and area profiles.
Maybe we (the royal we) can share our knowledge
The reason we use maps and let you add points of interest (i.e. stuff) to the map is because collectively we all have a lot of experience cottaging in Canada. What does a giant listing service like VRBO know about the cabin / cottage scene in Canada? Nothing. But we do. For example, we happen to know of a famous little fishing cove called ‘Pike Alley’ on the Big Rideau Lake…and now that we’ve put it on the map you’ll know about it too, and the legend will grow. We're also integrating videos, photo sites, and more to give you a more interactive experience and a better sense of the area.
We have a vision
We want renting a cottage or cabin to be easy, fun and informative. When a new cottage goes up in your favourite area why can't you be notified? Why can't you see what is around the cottage you are thinking about renting? Why is nothing pulled together usefully into one stop shopping? Our vision is to pull it together and add the best features in the business. When we are done this will be the best service for anyone looking to rent or list a vacation rental property in the country!
Get to know us a little better. For example, what do we believe in
- Using maps to find anything is the way to go
- Everyone should travel at least somewhere, sometime. Preferably many places, many times
- Will Ferrell may never out do his performance in Old School (honourable mention: Goulet and Cow bells)
- Google might take over the world
- Someone really did kill those electric cars and we'd like them back
- Technology is cool and you should make sure it doesn't pass you by
- Using the internet for any purchase should be fun, easy and give you everything you need
- Donna Martin should have graduated (we are happy to report that she did)
- People are generally busy or lazy and enjoy free easy to use applications
- The Littlest Hobo teamed up with MacGyver would be pretty much unstoppable
- Between lucky and good we'll take lucky
- What goes around, comes around
- Black outs are very peaceful provided they don't last too long
- Hal Johnson was onto something with that whole 'keep fit and have fun'
